Penfield golf course is 5536 metres par 72 challenging golf experience. The 9 hole course has well watered and manicured kikuyu fairways and bent greens. The fairways are lined with many large native trees and feature strategically placed bunkers and subtle dog legs approaching bunkered greens.
Tees have alternate markers for each hole to give a different perspective to each tee shot. Some tees and greens are raised to add interest to a largely flat terrain. The course includes a 200 metre practice fairway, practice bunkers and putting green.
Hole 1 and 10 is a 493 metre par 5 dogleg left at 350 metres to a large green with the approach protected left by bunkers.
Hole 2 and 11 is 286 metre par 4 dogleg right over large pine trees at 150 metres to a large green bunkered right. 3 fairway bunkers left at 230 metres trap the longer wayward drive.
Hole 3 and 12 is a 254 metre par 4 narrow tree lined fairway slightly dogleg left at 220 metres to a right and left bunkered green. Out of bounds far right traps the wayward long drive.
Hole 4 and 13 is a 136 metre par 3 over huge gum trees to a large green protected by 4 bunkers. The signature hole.
Hole 5 and 14 is a 361 metre slight dogleg left at the 210 metre mark. No bunkers but a small sloping green is a tight target.
Hole 6 and 15 is a 290 par 4 with a slight dogleg left over very tall gums at 210 metres to a green bunkered left.
Hole 7 is 161 and hole 16 is 178 metres from alternate tees which are raised and overhung by large pines to a raised green approached over bunkers and grassed hollows.
Hole 7 and 16 is 342 metre par 4 straightaway fairway bunkered left and right at 190 metres to a green bunkered left and right.
Hole 9 is 493 and hole 18 is 483 metre par 5 straightaway tree lined fairway, and bunkered left and right at 200 metres and again at 410 metres to a large green surrounded by bunkers.
